On behalf of the dancers, PVHS Administrators, PVPUSD School Board and District Officials, and PVHS Faculty we would like to take this time to thank you for your support to upgrade the dance facilities at Palos Verdes High School.

Your contribution has helped to replace the floors in the lower and upper dance rooms to sprung dance floors.  The project was approved the first week of June and the construction began the following week.  It has been incredible to see the process of the removal of the floors that had been laid in 1961 to the installation of the new sprung, maple flooring.

This improvement was made possible by the support of community members, the PVHS Booster Club, and the PVHS administration.   On August 21, 2017 from 6-7:30 p.m.  the community is invited to join PVHS faculty in a celebration and view the new dance floors.

Kathleen Mastan, dance teacher at Palos Verdes High School said, “With the advanced dance technique that our students are performing, it is necessary that the facilities they practice in provide them with a safe environment to explore and perform movement.”  Sprung dance floors help to reduce the possibility of impact injuries.  The project was initiated by recent PVHS alumnae and four year PVHS Choreo members Miranda Kim and Georgia Nelson. The sprung dance floors will be ready for use this coming school year and will benefit the future Sea King dancers in the years to come.

If you would like more information about the invitation for the community to view the dance facilities or about the dance program at Palos Verdes High School, contact Kathleen Mastan at mastank@pvpusd.net.
